“Promotion and Publicity” for the Project "Digitisation and Digital Documentation of the Collections of the Ministry of Culture" (3rd CSF – Information Society – Measure 1.3)
An important aspect of the Project involved the necessary promotional activities aimed at informing the general public and the international education and scientific communities about the Project’s aims and results, as well as the new and enhanced possibilities for accessing, researching and understanding the cultural heritage of Greece. These activities included conferences, exhibitions and the production of promotional material in printed and electronic format:
• An International Conference entitled “Digital Heritage in the new Knowledge Environment: shared spaces & open paths to cultural content”, 31 October - 2 November 2008 (see also, calls -1- and -2-). The proceedings of the conference have been published in a special volume and DVD-rom format (in english).
• A two-day conference entitled “Digitising Monuments, Collections & Archives. Towards an active & accessible cultural content”, 21-22 November 2008, The proceedings were published in CD-rom format.
• An exhibition entitled "...I submitted a written report…: Treasures of the Historical Archive of the Archeological Service” on the occasion of the completion of the digitization of over 15,000 of some of the most important document of the Archive and the official opening of the new building which will house the Archive. The exhibition, which will be open until 25 September 2009, attempts to throw light on aspects of crucial importance to the history of archaeology in Greece and to highlight the substantial contribution of the Archive to archaeological and historical research. The treasures of this valuable Archive document the evolution of numerous archaeological and administrative issues, they constitute an important source of information about the monuments and sites of Greece, and will still reveal to us many pleasant surprises.
