Τελευταία τροποποίηση: 14-SEP-2009

Statue of a young athlete binding his hair. Found in the building known conventionally as the House of the Diadoumenos, on Delos. The hands are missing. The tip of the nose is restored. The youth is depicted nude, binding a ribbon in his hair, a feature that enables him to be identified as an athlete. The piece is a copy of the famous statue of the “Diadoumenos” made by Polykleitos, about 450-425 BC. The support in the form of a tree trunk, with his himation laying on it, is an addition by the copyist. Height: 1.95 m.
