The Directorate for the Documentation and Protection of Cultural Goods in collaboration with the Directorate for the Curation of the National Archive of Monuments is organizing a colloquium; “On the trail of antiquities traffickers: From the 19th century to 1970“. The aim of the colloquium is to present cases related to the entire spectrum of antiquities trafficking during the period from the mid-19th century to 1970, a year that coincides with the adoption of the UNESCO International Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property.
The colloquium will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025, a day established by the 40th General Conference of UNESCO as World Day Against Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property (https:// www.unesco.org /en /days /against-illicit-trafficking), at the amphitheater of the DTPA, at 33 Agion Asomaton Street, in Thissio.
This action aims to inform and raise public awareness against illicit antiquities trafficking, which has long been a scourge on cultural heritage.
